2002 - 2003 FULBRIGHT GRANTS COMPETITION
The Bulgarian-American Commission for Educational Exchange is pleased to announce the 2002-2003 competition for:
Fulbright senior scholar grants -- five to nine months for research and lecturing
Fulbright graduate study grants -- ten months for Master's, Ph.D. and non-degree programs
Fulbright - University of Oklahoma grant -- two year MBA program
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Bulgarian citizenship.
Applicants for senior scholar grants must hold a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree.
Applicants for graduate study grants must hold at least a Bachelor's degree.
Valid scores on TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, where applicable.
Applicants for graduate study grants should be under 40 years of age.
Applicants already studying in the U.S. are ineligible to apply for grants.
Candidates will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, or sex.

INFORMATION ABOUT GARDUATE STUDY AWARDS IN U.S.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Bulgarian citizenship
Applicants must hold at least a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent before the beginning date of grant, but may not hold a doctoral degree at the time of application
English language proficiency
Applicants should be under 40 years of age and in sound health
Students already studying in the U.S. are ineligible to apply for grants.
GENERAL SELECTION CRITERIA
Ability to meet academic requirements of the U.S. educational institutions and excellent academic record.
High scores on the American standardized tests (TOEFL, GRE, GMAT) and other qualifying or related academic experience outlined in the statement of purpose.
Adaptability and personal suitability will be factors in nomination and selection. Applicants should be representative and responsible citizens who can contribute to a full and fair picture of the culture and civilization of their own country and thereby contribute to understanding and friendship between the peoples of the U.S. and Bulgaria.
Preference shall be given to those applicants who have not had a prior opportunity for studying in the U.S.
STUDY PROJECTS
Study projects shall be specified with respect to the field of study, its relevance to the needs and interest of the applicant, and to the needs and interests of Bulgaria and the U.S.
The extent to which the proposed study program can effectively be conducted in the U.S. shall be a significant factor in the evaluation of applications.
Students may pursue degree programs or non-degree and special programs.
